In the 20 years since Troy and Brenda founded  (Graphics Dynamite Design & Printing Co.)…. The Obituary Service, he has been fortunate to meet and serve nearly 26,000 families. He believes he has been on a magnificent and rewarding journey that has allowed him to touch so many lives, and it is the families in deed who have inspired him over the years to realize how blessed he is to have served such a tremendous amount of families.

The Obituary Service (Store) will be celebrating 20 years of serving the community in January 2010.

The owner and founder Troy Hall, recalled that when his uncle passed away in 1990, the funeral home responsible for the arrangements produced a very unsatisfactory obituary.  Names were left out and misspelled and dates were incorrect.  His family was very upset.

To ensure that such an incident did not occur again, Troy and his wife Brenda started their own operation, thereby cutting out the “middleman”.  He noticed that there were to many people involved in the process.  The loved one’s information was given to the funeral home; the funeral home sent it to the printer; and the printer completed the project.  He felt that if the family had gone directly to the printer, they could have worked directly with the printing service and proofed the work.  Although the information was corrected and all was well, he walked away with a business idea, and has not stopped since.

With only a computer that needed repair and a mission to achieve, Troy used his own business savvy to make things happen.  He proudly shared that he  “always put money back into the business.”  And what an investment!  The company has experience tremendous growth.

Troy gained the business of the Leak & Sons Funeral Home, one of his very first clients, by preparing the programs and funeral register book for the family of two daughters who were killed in an automobile accident at no charge. The family reported the good deed to Mr. Spencer Leak Sr., where a business relationship of nearly 18 years began and has flourished over the years for both entities.

Customer service prevailed again when he obtained the business of A.A. Rayner & Sons Funeral Home.  Troy was called for programs on Friday night for a Saturday morning service.  Although he was commended for completing a job in less than 24 hours; he actually got the business because he folded the programs (at that time the Rayner’s printer didn’t fold programs and was closed on Saturdays which allowed Troy to gain an entrance into the Rayner Business establishment through Mr. Charles Childs).

“Excellence is our main objective” ~~  “Quality comes with a price”, ‘when you shortcut quality, your families suffers and so does your business” says Troy.  He always asks himself: “Would you buy this product or service”?  If his response is close to no, the answer is “it’s not leaving here”. The Obituary Service has grown and prospered because the entire staff stays “Focused on the Needs of our Families”.  They know what their families want and need, and they deliver.  To date, they have serviced over 27,000 families.

In addition to obituaries, the store also offers memorial plaques, “InRemembrance”, an online obituary service, and other keepsake items to keep the memory of your loved ones alive.
